Understanding British Bats
(Lifelong Learning Course AD305)
This course gives a thorough
introduction to British bats. Species identification including dried/pickled
specimens, life cycles, habits and habitats will be just some of the topics
covered in the workshops. Practical and field exercises will involve a guide to
summer and winter roosting sites and flight corridors, feeding patterns and
behaviour. There will be late evening bat watch(es) using ‘’bat detectors’’. The
distribution and status of these mammals, including BAP species and Wildlife
Law, will be discussed briefly. Come and learn about British bats with an expert
ecologist and with an interesting venue to explore. For this course it is
advisable to stay on site or close by due to the late evening
sessions.
